A delegation of researchers from different countries, including faculty from Rwanda Polytechnic (RP), recently participated in a significant workshop in South Korea. The event, organized under the Handong UNESCO UNITWIN program, focused on fostering “glocal” innovation for a sustainable future. The program aims to bridge the gap between global academic knowledge and local community needs by empowering universities in developing countries to become hubs of sustainable development.
The workshop served as a crucial platform for researchers to present their ongoing projects and receive feedback from their peers and experts. Discussions centered on practical, technology-driven solutions for challenges in various sectors, including agriculture, energy, and community development.
The Handong UNESCO UNITWIN workshop emphasized the value of international collaboration in tackling complex global issues. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the program facilitates the transfer of knowledge and technology from developed to developing countries. This model ensures that research findings are not only academically sound but also culturally and contextually relevant to the communities they are meant to serve.
The event concluded with a strong commitment from all participants to continue their collaborative efforts. The insights gained and the partnerships forged during the workshop are expected to lead to new, impactful research projects that will contribute significantly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
This collaboration between Handong Global University and Rwanda Polytechnic strengthens the capacity of local institutions to conduct high-quality research and train the next generation of innovators and leaders.
